Kayaking opportunities also abound on the River Dart or around our stunning coastline.

Sailing
Whether it’s yachts or dinghies you’re spoilt for choice. The famous sailing towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth are both less than half an hour away. Dittisham, with its sailing school, is a ten minute drive. Dinghies can be launched off the beach here. Both Dartmouth and Kingsbridge have good slipways too.

Surfing
Bantham has a terrific beach for surfing and kitesurfing plus a good surf school. Across the bay, Bigbury is a local hotspot for windsurfing. Challaborough & Lannacombe also get a decent wave in the right conditions.

Kayaking
There are plenty of opportunities for canoes and kayaks. For some real adventure you can try the ‘Loop’ up on Dartmoor (experts only). Kayaking the River Dart is a real adventure from Dartmouth or try the coastal waters only ten minutes away at Torcross and Blackpool Sands.

Climbing
Climbing adventures abound up on Dartmoor.
There’s also great indoor climbing centres at Dart Rock in Buckfastleigh and the Life Centre in Plymouth.
